So yes, for those who don’t know, Ben Tanzer’s essay collection 99 Problems (aka “The Little Book That Could”), put out by the center earlier this year, continues to do well, and is well on its way to achieving its thousandth download, a great accomplishment for a book with no marketing budget. And now that I have a new top-of-the-line computer at home (thank YOU, bike-accident settlement check!), and can run the brand-new version 6 of Google Earth,” I recently had a chance to do something really cool, which is to check out Tanzer’s “story-map” for 99 Problems in a full 3D environment, with all the bells and whistles turned on regarding buildings and trees, because of now owning a Mac with a quad-core processor and its own dedicated graphics card. And man, as you can see in these screenshots, it looks freaking incredible.
